A student project awarded the JSCA Prize at the 15th Student Summer Seminar 2019: an 8-meter telescoping tower that can be erected without anyone working at height, built from carbon-fiber-wrapped aluminum pipe cured into CFRP.

A Miura-ori fold gives the structure a single-degree-of-freedom mechanism; multiple small robots work in tandem to build and deploy it — one wrapping carbon fiber and applying resin, others raising the mechanism as turnbuckle robots.
